Westerly Hospital's commitment to its community is demonstrated by over $6 million in free programs and services.
In fact, from October 1, 2014 – September 30, 2015 (Fiscal Year 2015), Westerly Hospital provided over $18 million in community support to the Westerly Hospital service area: $6.3 million in community benefits and an additional $11.7 million in other community investment.
Westerly Hospital adheres to its not-for-profit mission to provide everyone with the healthcare they need, regardless of their ability to pay. Often, the cost of providing healthcare to those in need well exceeds government sponsored healthcare (Medicaid and Medicare) reimbursements and also includes charity care/indigent care costs. Every day, Westerly Hospital demonstrates its commitment to the communities we serve and to improving health for everyone.
